Winter Freeze

This year's Polar Vortex did not last as long as the previous years.  Although it was only three days in the beginning of February, it was long enough to cause pipes to freeze and break throughout SERVPRO of Barberton/Norton's service area.  The smallest split in a pipe can cause damage to an entire dwelling.  Our crews worked very hard and provided excellent mitigation services to our customers.  This home suffered damage to all three floors of the structure.  The heat was on and the homeowners were home, the pipe was wrapped in pipe insulation and nestled in fiberglass insulation, yet it was cold enough long enough for the pipe to split and break.  This resulted in building materials having to be removed so that the  structure could be properly dried.
